17 Best NYC
Engagement Locations

The steps and grand facade of the New York Public Library are pure, classic New York. The Beaux-Arts architecture creates a dramatic, timeless backdrop that adds gravitas and sophistication to any engagement session. Just a block from Bryant Park, you can easily combine both locations in a single afternoon session for a variety of looks.

3: NY Public Library (Midtown)

The best engagement sessions happen when you feel as good as you look. That balance between beautiful and comfortable is something we talk about with every couple before we ever pick up a camera. Wear the outfit that makes you feel like yourself. Choose shoes you can actually walk in — and trust us, after 20 years of shooting across New York City we have seen it all, including couples who showed up in heels for a park session and needed a little extra help making it back to the car. We say this with love — and a lot of laughter.
Whether you're a New York couple creating new memories in the city you call home, or you're visiting for the weekend and want to capture something real and beautiful while you're here — we are ready for you. Our experience, our knowledge of these locations, and our genuine love for this work means you never have to figure this out alone. We guide you through every step, every location, and every moment so that all you have to do is show up, be present, and enjoy your person.

YOUR NEW YORK LOVE STORY DESERVES THE PERFECT BACKDROP. LET'S FIND IT TOGETHER.

1. Central Park - Upper West & Upper East Side, Manhattan

Central Park is New York City's most iconic outdoor space, and for good reason. From the Bethesda Fountain to the rowboats on the lake, every corner offers a different story. With over 840 acres of paths, bridges, and meadows, no two sessions here ever look the same — and the dappled light filtering through the trees in late afternoon is simply stunning.

Timing Is Everything: Your Guide to NYC Engagement Sessions

New York City is a gem unlike anything else in the world — and nowhere is that more alive than in spring and fall, when the cherry blossoms take over Central Park, the trees burn gold and red across Brooklyn and Upper Manhattan, and the entire city becomes something you have to see to believe. These are the seasons that draw the world to New York's doorstep, and the perfect backdrop for your engagement session.
But the secret to extraordinary photos isn't just the location — it's the light. After 20 years of photographing love stories across all five boroughs, I always recommend arriving 2 to 3 hours before sunset. That golden hour light is soft, warm, and cinematic in a way nothing else replicates.
New York City is alive — and that energy can feel overwhelming without the right guidance. Our job is to bring the patience, the direction, and the expertise so all you have to do is show up and be present. We handle everything else.
Here are our 17 favorite spots across the city — each one personally shot, personally loved.
Hidden behind iron gates on Fifth Avenue, the Conservatory Garden is Central Park's most romantic secret. Unlike the busy main paths, this formal garden feels intimate and tucked away — with wisteria pergolas, Italian fountains, and manicured flower beds that bloom beautifully from spring through fall. It photographs completely differently from Central Park, giving you an elegant, garden-party feel.

2. Conservatory Gardens (Upper East Side)

Lincoln Center is where architecture meets artistry — and it shows in every photo taken here. The grand plaza, the iconic Revson Fountain, and the elegant travertine buildings create a backdrop that feels both cinematic and sophisticated. As the sun drops and the fountain catches the last light of the day, this location transforms into something truly magical. Perfect for couples who appreciate culture, elegance, and a backdrop with real soul.

4: Lincoln center (Midtown)

Built on a former elevated railway, The High Line is one of NYC's most creative and unexpected engagement session locations. The combination of industrial metal railings, wild plantings, and sweeping views of the Hudson River and Chelsea creates an urban-meets-nature backdrop that feels fresh and modern. The varied textures and levels make for incredibly dynamic compositions.

5: The High Line — Chelsea, Manhattan

At the very tip of Manhattan, Battery Park offers sweeping views of New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty, and the open water. It has a quiet, contemplative energy compared to busier Manhattan spots — and the combination of water, greenery, and skyline gives you incredible variety within a single location. Sunset here, looking west over the harbor, is absolutely unforgettable.

6:  Battery Park — Lower Manhattan

Tucked into the northern tip of Manhattan, Fort Tryon Park is one of the city's best-kept secrets. The medieval stone architecture of The Cloisters creates a backdrop unlike anything else in New York — think European romance without the flight. The park's terraced gardens and Hudson River views make this location feel worlds away from the city below.

7:  Fort Tryon Park — Washington Heights, Manhattan

DUMBO is arguably the most photographed neighborhood in New York City, and the view of the Manhattan Bridge framed perfectly at the end of Washington Street is iconic for a reason. The cobblestone streets, the brick warehouses, and the two great bridges overhead create a backdrop that is quintessentially New York. Arrive early — this spot gets busy fast.

8: Brooklyn Bridge / DUMBO

9: Brooklyn Heights Promenade — Brooklyn

Perched high above the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, the Brooklyn Heights Promenade offers one of the most dramatic and unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline in existence. Unlike DUMBO directly below, the Promenade has an elegant, unhurried quality — wide walkways, tree-lined paths, and that jaw-dropping skyline backdrop that never gets old.

10: Red Hook — Brooklyn

Red Hook is Brooklyn at its most raw and authentic. The waterfront warehouses, the quiet cobblestone streets, and the stunning views of Governor's Island and lower Manhattan give this neighborhood a gritty, romantic energy that makes for truly unique engagement photos. It attracts couples who want something real and editorial rather than polished and posed.

11: Bushwick — Brooklyn

Bushwick is New York City's outdoor art gallery. The streets are covered in world-class murals — vivid, bold, and constantly evolving — making it one of the most colorful and photogenic neighborhoods in the five boroughs. If you're a couple with personality and style who wants photos that look nothing like everyone else's, Bushwick is your spot.

12: Coney Island — Brooklyn

Coney Island is pure New York nostalgia — the boardwalk, the Wonder Wheel, the smell of the ocean, and that vintage amusement park energy that takes you back in time. It's the perfect location for couples who are fun-loving and adventurous, and who want engagement photos that feel joyful, playful, and completely one-of-a-kind. Late afternoon light on the boardwalk is golden magic.

13: Industry City — Sunset Park, Brooklyn

Industry City is Brooklyn's creative soul poured into six million square feet of repurposed industrial space. Dramatic brick archways, weathered textures, open-air courtyards, and unexpected splashes of color give every session here a bold, editorial energy that feels completely unique. Add waterfront views of New York Harbor and you have a location that delivers variety, personality, and atmosphere all in one place. Perfect for couples who want photos that are urban, artistic, and entirely their own.

14: Roosevelt Island — Between Queens & Manhattan

Tucked quietly between the skylines of Queens and Manhattan, Roosevelt Island is one of New York City's best kept secrets. Most New Yorkers walk right past it — and that's exactly what makes it so special for engagement sessions. Rolling hills with stunning city landscapes, the striking architecture of Cornell Tech's campus, and sweeping Hudson River views give you an extraordinary range of backdrops without ever leaving this narrow slice of land. It's also one of my personal favorite spots for silhouettes — the way both skylines frame a couple at golden hour here is truly breathtaking. At the southern tip, Four Freedoms Park is one of the most beautifully designed spaces in the entire city — just note that shooting there requires a permit, and for couples who plan ahead, it is absolutely worth every bit of the effort.

15. Prospect Park, Brooklyn

Prospect Park is Brooklyn's crown jewel — and for couples who want that lush, sprawling parkland feel without crossing into Manhattan, it delivers in every season. Designed by the same visionary duo behind Central Park, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, this park carries over 150 years of history within its borders. The Long Meadow, the tranquil boathouse, the dense woodland ravine, and the Grand Army Plaza entrance all offer completely different moods and backdrops within a single location. In fall the foliage is breathtaking, in spring the blooms rival anything in the five boroughs. Prospect Park doesn't just give you a backdrop — it gives you a Brooklyn love story.

16: Fort Totten Park — Queens

Fort Totten is one of the most underrated engagement session locations in all of New York City. Situated on a peninsula at the edge of Little Neck Bay, this former military fort combines Victorian-era architecture, lush green grounds, and waterfront views of Long Island Sound. The sense of history and the quiet, uncrowded atmosphere make every session here feel private and intimate — a rare thing in New York.

17: Gantry Plaza State Park — Long Island City, Queens

f you want Manhattan's skyline without being in Manhattan, Gantry Plaza State Park is your answer. This beautifully maintained state park sits right on the East River waterfront in Long Island City, delivering some of the most epic, unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline you will find anywhere in New York City. The energy here is effortless — the iconic Pepsi-Cola sign standing proudly in the background, the historic gantries framing the water, and that unmistakable New York atmosphere that makes every photo feel alive. Engagement sessions are welcomed here and the park's layout gives us endless creative options along the waterfront. Keep in mind that full wedding day shoots require a permit — but for couples looking for that skyline moment, this location delivers every single time.
