Planning Your Sangeet at Liberty Warehouse?

If you are hosting a Sangeet or South Asian celebration at Liberty Warehouse and want a photographer who understands the pace, the culture, and the details — I would love to connect.

When Design Is Taken Seriously — Mala Events

There are venues in New York City that look great in photos. And then there are venues that make you feel something the moment you walk in. Liberty Warehouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn is firmly in the second category. Exposed brick walls, warm tones, and waterfront views overlooking the Statue of Liberty give this space a character that is completely its own — intimate enough to feel personal, expansive enough to hold a full-scale South Asian celebration without ever feeling crowded. For a Sangeet, it is the perfect environment.

A Sangeet at Liberty Warehouse — Red Hook, Brooklyn

Whenever Mala Events is involved in a production, the standard of detail is immediately clear. Under the direction of Naomi and her team, this Sangeet was not just decorated — it was designed. Custom floor wraps, curated food stations, dedicated Sangeet corners — every element of the space was intentional and immersive. The level of care that went into this Pakistani Sangeet was extraordinary, and working alongside a team of this caliber elevates the entire experience. Arriving early is always part of my process at events like this — capturing the details at their peak, before guests arrive and the energy builds, is something I prioritize at every celebration. That foundation of trust is not something money can buy — it is built through experience together. And on a reception day at a venue as dynamic as Bourne Mansion, it allowed me to step into full creative direction from the very first moment. No warm-up period. No hesitation. Just execution from the start.

Getting Ready at Liberty Warehouse

The bridal suite at Liberty Warehouse is one of the more underrated features of this venue. Spacious, filled with natural light, and designed to give the bride a genuine moment of calm before the pace of the Sangeet takes over. We made full use of that space — relaxed, unhurried portraits before the energy of the evening accelerated. Those quiet moments before the celebration begins are always some of the most genuine of the entire day.

Golden Hour at Liberty Warehouse

Liberty Warehouse at golden hour is genuinely cinematic. The sunlight cuts through the windows with warmth and direction — giving you that rare combination of being indoors while feeling the depth and drama of natural light. For portraits, it is one of the best windows of the entire evening. The entrances began during this light, and it elevated every frame.

The First Look & Venue Reveal

As guests began arriving we moved into the first look, and even in the middle of the building energy of the room, everything slowed down for a moment. After that we walked through the full venue together — giving the couple the chance to see everything Mala Events had created for the first time. That reaction is always one of my favorite moments to capture. Fully present, fully excited, and completely in it together.

Photographing a High-Energy Sangeet

Sangeets move fast. Large guest counts, packed dance floors, constant movement — this is where preparation separates a good photographer from a great one. Wide lenses, long lenses, and lighting all pre-set and dialed before a single guest walked in. No running back to the bag. No adjusting on the fly. Just complete coverage of every moment as it unfolded — dance performances, family portraits, and one of the most powerful moments of the night, watching the parents dance for their daughter. That moment moved the entire room, and the photographs show it.
